 About the author: Calvin Dill Wilson (1857–1946) was an American minister, writer, and poet. Born in Baltimore, he graduated from Washington and Jefferson College in 1876 and Western Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh in 1879. He served as a Presbyterian minister in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Ohio and wrote numerous works of prose and poetry, including books intended for younger readers.
